Featuring nearly an hour’s worth of footage, highlights include the State Coach making its way through the London streets past huge cheering crowds and, of course, the presentation to the new Queen of the Royal Sceptre, Orb, and Crown – a must-see for any royal enthusiast!
Welcome to the Queen (1952) follows the monarch on her first tour around the Commonwealth, meeting enthusiastic crowds and encountering the colourful diversity of customs and traditional dress in Jamaica, Fiji, Tonga, New Zealand, Australia, Ceylon, and Uganda. We then see the royal couple take to the Royal Yacht Britannia for a Mediterranean tour, calling at the Western Desert, Malta, and Gibraltar before being accompanied by RAF planes and Royal Navy ships back to Tilbury and up the Thames to their final destination: the Pool of London.
