Take the MHM quiz for your chance to win one of five copies of Queen Elizabeth in the 1950s.

Roll out the bunting and re-live Queen Elizabeth in the 1950s, now available on DVD courtesy of Strike Force Entertainment.

As neighbours and friends come together across the country to put community spirit back on the map with a street party, sit back, relax, and reminisce with five classic British Pathé documentaries celebrating the early years of the Queen’s reign.

The DVD includes: Long Live the Queen (1952), an insight into the life of a princess and a document of her first engagements as Queen, which takes us on a nostalgic journey back in time.

Elizabeth is Queen (1953) is a full-colour documentary of the Coronation ceremony in Westminster Abbey, also showing the meticulous preparations of the Royal Guardsmen, the Household Cavalry, and the royal Coachmen. Featuring nearly an hour’s worth of footage, highlights include the State Coach making its way through the London streets past huge cheering crowds and, of course, the presentation to the new Queen of the Royal Sceptre, Orb, and Crown – a must-see for any royal enthusiast!

Welcome to the Queen (1952) follows the monarch on her first tour around the Commonwealth, meeting enthusiastic crowds and encountering the colourful diversity of customs and traditional dress in Jamaica, Fiji, Tonga, New Zealand, Australia, Ceylon, and Uganda. We then see the royal couple take to the Royal Yacht Britannia for a Mediterranean tour, calling at the Western Desert, Malta, and Gibraltar before being accompanied by RAF planes and Royal Navy ships back to Tilbury and up the Thames to their final destination: the Pool of London.

Whether you’re having a street party or re-living the glory years from the comfort of your own home, Queen Elizabeth in the 1950s is the perfect commemoration of this momentous and unique occasion.
